This Is The Best Paula’s Choice Skincare Routine
The first time I met Paula Begoun from Paula's Choice, I was mesmerized. Assertive, incredibly knowledgeable, and no bullshit whatsoever, Begoun was an industry veteran who had been around the block and really knew skincare.
Paula's Choice Skincare Routine for Sensitive and Acne Prone Skin
Paula’s Choice Skincare Routine: Daytime
Step 1: Paula’s Choice Cleanser – CALM Ultra Gentle Cleanser
A few months ago, the brand sent me their updated line of CALM, and I am obsessed. This cleanser has a thick jelly texture, and it noticeably hydrates skin. It does not feel stripping; also, it doesn't leave your skin feeling dry. That being said, I don't think it does a great job of washing away makeup. I would recommend using a cleansing balm or makeup remover before washing your face with this cleanser. Because I just don't feel like it's a great makeup remover, I'd suggest you use this pick in the morning. Mornings when I will literally just rinse my face with water, most mornings I reach for this cleanser and wash away whatever skincare product is still left on my face from overnight.
Available at Amazon ($19)
Step 2: Paula's Choice Toner – CALM Nourishing Milky Toner
The reason being, I didn't really use any toners in my skincare routine previously because I felt they were pointless or an irritant, but not in this pick. I'm absolutely loving how my skin just drinks this and how great it is added to literally anyone's skincare routine whether you suffer from sensitive skin or not.
Available at Amazon ($26)
Step 2: Paula's Choice SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
It is a pick that I really do not use that often, and that is only because I like hydrating my skin more than exfoliating it. But again, this will be a sin if, in the lineup of Paula's Choice skincare routine, I didn't include it. This is Paula's Choice best seller and works wonders for those with clogged skin.
This exfoliant contains 2% salicylic acid and can be used daily to exfoliate dead skin cells, smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles, and unclog pores, too. The instructions say that you can use this up to twice a day, but I would say it's best to use this once a day if you have normal, combination, or oily skin and once every other day if you use dry, sensitive, or acne-prone skin.
I just really like this pick because it leaves such a nice sheen on your face. And I really do not think it looks too bad underneath makeup either. You can use it morning or night.
Available at Amazon ($35)
Step 3: Paula's Choice Vitamin C – C15 Super Booster
Not a product I use regularly, but one of Paula's best-sellers and not to be missed! This superstar product contains 15% pure vitamin C and can be applied directly to your face, or can be added into your moisturizer and applied that way too.
If you have visible signs of aging due to fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, or sallowness, then the C15 Super Booster is an addition worth making to your Paula's Choice skincare routine. It smoothes and brightens your skin while protecting your face from environmental aggressors by means of antioxidant-rich vitamin E and ferulic acid.
Step 4: Paula's Choice Niacinamide – CLINICAL Niacinamide 20% Treatment
I feel like niacinamide doesn't get enough credit in the skincare world. Adding this ingredient into your Paula's Choice skincare routine will reduce enlarged pores. I love it because, really, it works to calm irritation, improve blotchy skin, and help fade any brown or red marks from fading blemishes.

Step 5: Paula's Choice Moisturizer – CALM Rescue & Repair Intensive Moisturizer
Again, another winner from the line CALM that I am in love with. So thick, rich, and it hydrates your skin just enough without your skin feeling clogged or greasy. Doesn't bother my skin at all, does a great job of giving a drink to your skin.
But just to put it into perspective: this moisturizer is not going to give you that dewy effect that some other moisturizers on the market will provide. It absorbs beautifully into the skin and hydrates well, but for that dewy finish, you may wish to apply an oil or a dewy sunscreen over the top.
Available at Amazon ($33)
Step 6: Paula's Choice Sunscreen – RESIST Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30
Ah, this is another pick that I haven't tried personally, but holy crap does it have some amazing, amazing reviews on Amazon. I'm a terrible beauty editor who doesn't wear sunscreen every day like I should. I opt out of sunscreen when I can because I feel like all of them break me out or irritate my face in some sort of way.
I highly doubt that it will be with this pick. This is SPF 30, which is a great defense against sun damage. Literally, a million reviews can be found on Amazon and Sephora from people who said this product did not irritate them, gave them adequate hydration, and worked to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, too.
It feels great underneath makeup, is really lightweight, and it's also available in a nice tinted formulation. Unfortunately, because this is tinted, it might not look that great on people with darker skin.

Paula's Choice Skincare Routine: Nighttime
Step 1: Paula's Choice Cleanser – RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser
Daily makeup requires using a cleanser that will remove the makeup and dirt and grime, and all other impurities maybe left on the face at the end of the day. This foaming cleanser is a smooth, light, cream-to-foam cleanser that prepares your skin for an optimum night routine.

Step 2: Paula's Choice Toner - SKIN RECOVERY Enriched Calming Toner
My favorite lines are from Paula's Choice, and one of them is the SKIN RECOVERY line. I just love how hydrating this line is. The calming toner is milky, just like the CALM Nourishing Milky Toner, and it really works to hydrate and balance your skin barrier.
Available at Amazon ($23)
Step 3: Paula's Choice Blemish Treatment – CLEAR Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide
Two blemish treatments are available in the CLEAR line. There's the CLEAR Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide and there's the CLEAR Extra Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment containing 5% Benzoyl Peroxide. This is the one I tend to use, as the stronger one irritates my skin.
Benzoyl peroxide always works much better for my pimples than salicylic acid does. Just beware: this product will bleach anything it touches, so be very careful. Wash your hands immediately after application to the skin.
Available at Amazon
Step 4: Paula's Choice Eye Cream – RESIST Anti-Aging Eye Cream
I don't use a ton of eye creams, but this pick has a lot of great reviews. It's a balm-like cream that both hydrates your eyes while using effective ingredients to target fine lines and wrinkles.
Available at Amazon
Step 5: Paula's Choice Retinol – CLINICAL 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment
Retinol is pretty much the gold standard in dermatology because it, in essence, covers all your skin concerns. I feel this pick is on the low percentage of retinol; I really do believe in the gentle approach. Honestly, I don't use a retinol myself. But you should really be switching up your skincare once you hit your 30s-and now that I'm 31, I probably should start soon.
This Paula's Choice retinol formula includes 2% bakuchiol, a plant-extracted active ingredient that works in conjunction with retinol in the fight against signs of aging. It helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, rough texture, and uneven skin tones. Moreover, it will be able to contribute to the skin's hydration. You can try smearing a moisturizer over your retinol if your skin tends to be dry or sensitive, to avoid any patches of dryness.

Step 6: Paula's Choice Moisturizer – SKIN RECOVERY Replenishing Moisturizer
This is, hands down, one of the top three products that I use within my personal Paula's Choice skincare routine. I would almost dare say it's better than a few high-end beauties. It's got hyaluronic acid and peptides, and it feels so thick and luxe. This literally is just the perfect nighttime moisturizer to really seal in everything underneath.
I also love using this pick in daytime during cold months; that is, in winter. It works really great for thoroughly moisturizing the skin and looks good under makeup, too.

Before And After Paula's Choice Skincare
I don't have any before and after photos to show you of my Paula's Choice skincare routine journey. But I will say this brand has completely changed my skin for the better. It is a line that I really trust won't irritate my very, very sensitive skin. Plus, I know Paula uses really effective active ingredients that are safe and have been rigorously tested.
The truth is, once you try any of the above-mentioned Paula's Choice products for the first time, you will be hooked for life.
