Why I’m Obsessed With The Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream
Before my first encounter with the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream, I knew of the brand; it's one specifically geared toward eczema sufferers. It was 2016, and I had just started working as an assistant beauty editor at Family Circle magazine, so I was really buckling down and learning as much about the beauty world as possible.
I remember a team that once introduced me to Skinfix and gave me samples of their signature product, a rich face ointment. I loved that the brand was specifically catering to those of us with eczema-prone skin-such as myself-but the formula wasn't for me. I didn't like it at all and had written off the brand based on that first impression of their top-seller. Fast forward six years, and I'm now a Skinfix brand ambassador.
Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream
I have dry, acne-prone, sensitive skin—a.k.a. as Irish as can be. I suffer from slight rosacea and have been dealing with eczema on my face, hands, and scalp since 2012. Unfortunately, I have to be really careful about what I apply to my skin.
One day, my counterpart in beauty editorial, posted one of those Instagram stories about something or the other. What caught my attention was how her skin just looked remarkably luminous. If you are anyone that is closely related with Chelsea, you already know how her skin always looks remarkably good, but I could tell she had no makeup on this day, and yet her skin shone bright in a manner I thought was only achievable with makeup.
I asked her what she was putting on her skin. She said she had been trying the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid Peptide Cream and was very pleased with the results. She also added that she has sensitive skin and was shocked at how it did not irritate her skin after continuous use of this cream. I reached out to the brand to ask if they could send me a sample. It ultimately resulted in an immediate affection upon application. (The Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream is available for purchase here.)
The Brand
Before diving deep into my obsession with the Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream, let's take a closer look at the brand. The Skinfix brand touts itself as clean and clinically proven in skincare. It uses a combination of clinically active and nutritious skin health ingredients. They avoid toxic ingredients, allergens, and irritants and put in work to create products that protect your skin barrier. Skin barrier health-to win!
What really impressed me with this brand, and what I think is great, is the focus on improving skin barrier integrity. Consumers are currently being bombarded with a myriad of harsh anti-aging, acne treatments, and barrier-compromising skincare products. It is refreshing to come across a brand that truly aims to treat the skin gently, yet considers barrier function in its approach.
Given my experience with eczema, I appreciate the fact that this brand has focused on that skin condition and has developed formulas for such problematic skin types. However, let me point out that having eczema is not a requirement to using these products. Except for very oily skin, I recommend that everyone give Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream a try; I'm sure they'll find it helpful, especially for those who have dry skin.
The Formula
Okay, now onto the good stuff: the formula. Having tried the original thick ointment on my face many, many moons ago, I wasn't exactly optimistic about the Triple Lipid Peptide Cream. But I'm trusting Chelsea and her immaculate skin, and slathering that stuff right on.
I was blown away the moment I first rubbed this into my skin. The texture isn't as thick as heavy cream, but the finish of this product feels like what you'd want after applying a heavy cream. But not in a bad way. It's just very silky and soft, and truly feels like it's nourishing my face in a way that not many other products have felt. This is probably because of the formula's content of ceramides, macadamia seed oils, among others, and fatty acids, in addition to shea butter, japonicus root extract, and a solid amount of lipids.
This cream is a miracle because it in no way irritates my skin. It does not flare up my eczema, cause any sort of breakouts, or leave my face feeling itchy or weird after use. I also really love how it soaks into your skin pretty immediately. And it doesn't hurt that in testing the formula, it went through a clinical study with the brand.
It has a triple-lipid complex in the formula to work at rebuilding your skin's barrier.
If you don't know, lipids are your skin's natural fat. When your skin is depleted of its natural lipids, it looks and feels drier and weaker. This cream also includes nutripeptides to support your skin barrier, lily root to lock in hydration, and seaweed sodium hyaluronate-a cousin to hyaluronic acid-to hydrate the skin, too.
Is Skinfix Cruelty-Free?
The Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream also won about a million awards, is safe-and super helpful-for sensitive skin, and is vegan and cruelty-free. I would say this product is perfect for every skin type, except for those with very oily complexions. It doesn't leave your skin feeling oily, but it does provide a soft glow afterward.
And that's just my favorite thing about this moisturizer. It looks amazing underneath my makeup and gives me that extra oomph of glow when I am not wearing foundation. In my day-to-day life, I use Alima Pure foundation; it comes in a loose powder form. I like to think that Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream lets me have it both ways: I get to wear a non-irritating powder foundation and can still get that soft, moisturized glow underneath instead of some kind of liquid foundation that will no doubt irritate my poor sensitive skin.
The Packaging
There's absolutely nothing worse than a tub of moisturizer. You're supposed to twist the top off, dip your fingers in, then try to screw the top back on with product on your fingers. This pick may look like one of those annoying tubs of cream, but it's not.
The top just pops off, and you can just dispense the cream through a pump. All you have to do is press down on the top, and the inner cup dispenses a perfect amount of moisturizer. One of the cool things about this type of packaging is that it is sanitary-no finger-dipping into the jar-and you can even customize your formula. All you have to do is pump some cream onto the inner cup, add a few drops of your favorite serum, mix it around on the cup, and apply to skin. Instead of layering one product on top of another directly onto your face, you can combine two products together and apply it onto your skin in one go.
Another brilliant idea would be to pump the moisturizer onto the inner cup, then add some drops of your favorite liquid foundation, mix around, and apply to your skin. That would definitely make for a beautiful tinted moisturizer. Just don't forget to clean up the cup afterward.
Lastly, I love that this brand is trying to take a jog into sustainability. The packaging is refillable and not disposable. You have to buy the cream in its original packing once. Once you have consumed all the product, you may buy a refill and pop it into the original product dispenser. The refills are cheaper, too, in order to save the planet.
The Price
Now, you might be taken aback by this price, and rightly so: 54 $ for a face cream of any sort certainly ain't cheap. Compared to your average, run-of-the-mill drugstore moisturizer, the Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream is way more expensive. But if you put it head to head with other high-end moisturizers out on the market, then $54 really isn't that bad.
Not in my opinion, some beauty products aren't worth the extra money-spending-high-end mascara-while others are. And one of those products that I think is worth that extra dough spent is a great moisturizer. Especially one that doesn't cause you to break out or irritate your face.
Overall, I am in love with this moisturizer. Most of all, I recommend it for cold, winter months-and I now simply cannot imagine my skincare routine without it. If you're in search of acne-fighting products, we recommend the Skinfix Barrier+ Foaming Oil Cleanser. It'll draw extra sebum out of your pores so it doesn't clog them.
