Reviews of Boom Makeup: Everything You Should Know

Reviews of Boom Makeup: Everything You Should Know

So, this Boom Makeup review is, hands down, the toughest one I have done so far for my blog. Let me tell you, it signifies something because, until now, I have not mince words in reviewing some other stuff on my site.

So, I decided to try out the products and share my thoughts because a lot of people were hitting me up about my Ogee makeup review. So, people wanted to know if I've ever tried the Boom makeup trio and how it stacks up against the Ogee Crystal Contour Collection. Honestly, in my opinion, there's just no comparison. The Ogee formula totally beats the Boomstick Trio (and yeah, it's a bummer that it's pricier too).

In this Boom makeup review, I'm going to cover all you need to know about the Boom Makeup Boomstick Trio. I'll cover the ingredients, color payoff, size, and a bunch of other stuff.

Boom Makeup Reviews

So, just so you know, I'm kinda looking at this review with the Ogee sticks in my mind, comparing them to the Boomsticks. When I first saw the Boomstick Trio, I was a little confused. I thought there'd be a contour stick, a highlighter stick, and a blush stick in there, just like the Ogee Crystal Contour Collection.

So, instead, it actually comes with the Boomstick Glo, which is like a "full body moisturizer"; then there is the Boomstick Color, which can totally work as a creamy blush, lipstick, bronzer, and contour all at once; and not to forget about the Boomstick Glimmer, which is this highlighter you could slap on your cheekbones, eyelids, and even on your body.

What is Boom Makeup?

I've been a beauty biz journalist for nearly a decade, and had never even heard of this brand.
BOOM! by Cindy Joseph is just this really fun pro-aging makeup and skincare line. It's for women with more mature skin, per se, like Laura Geller makeup. Anyway, I really enjoy this Boom makeup vibe, and even the marketing for it is great. It's playful. It's bright. It's all real people. You know, really, it feels like a breath of fresh air within an industry that's become ridiculously youth-obsessed.
The brand was started by Cindy Joseph. She did makeup for 27 years of her life; after that, she became a model at age 49. Eventually, she wanted to come out with a makeup and skincare line all about pro-aging. She created BOOM!

Boom Makeup Products.

Boomstick Glo

I was so confused about this product at first, mainly because I thought it was just a highlighting thing, but really, this is an all-over moisturizer. From what I found on their site, the Boomstick Glo is like a stick version of their top-selling Boomsilk moisturizer. I'm actually noticing quite a few stick moisturizers showing up in my beauty journalism stuff lately, so maybe this glow stick is totally on trend. Actually, I'm not a fan of stick moisturizers; for my acne-prone, sensitive skin, they feel way too thick. But, hey, this could totally be a solid choice for older women with super dry, mature skin.

I think people are really going to love this moisturizer and the whole line of skin care and makeup because it uses just a handful of super natural ingredients in its stuff.

So, it would just be olive fruit oil, beeswax, and honey inside the Boomstick Glo. This feels super nice on, but most honestly, if I were to put this onto my chin, nose, or forehead, my face would totally freak out. I'm pretty sure the rest of my body should be fine because I never break out anywhere else. So, really, I wouldn't call this a makeup product at all. It's sort of more like an all-in-one skincare thing that you could totally use as a really subtle highlighter if you wanted to. Honestly, I think I'd just skip this product because, quite honestly, I just don't see myself using it that much.

Boomstick Color.

So, their website says you can totally use it as a lipstick, blush, and bronzer-the Boomstick Color.
I must say, the formula is nice, just the color is terrible. At least, for my skin tone.
It's this burnt red color that gives my face a kind of ruddy appearance-like, almost dirty. I like this color on my lips, but I just don't think I'd want to use it as a blush. And there's no way I'd ever use this as contour shade, either. I think this color would look great on ladies with dark skin tones. It is pretty dark, and I am quite sure it would suit a woman with deep skin tone way better.
Maybe it's just too dark for my skin tone, but this doesn't really blend that great, either. The blush in my Ogee Crystal Contour Collection was way more even than this blush. The one thing I will say about this blush is that I really wish I had gotten the Boomstick Trio Cheek and Lip set to test out instead. So that trio has the Boomstick shades Peony Pink, Golden Peach, and Rose Nude, and I totally think those would look way better on my skin tone than Boomstick Color.

As I usually say, I just stick with my Ogee sticks, but for those super into trying Boom makeup, this could be the one to watch: Boomstick Trio Cheek and Lip.

Boomstick Glimmer

Glowing Boomstick All right, so we can't sum up this Boom makeup review without speaking about the Boomstick Glimmer. I am kinda torn about this stick-it indeed does have a pretty sheen, but sometimes, it may look too white on people with darker skin tones.
For POC highlighters, you usually tend to go for a highlighting product that has more of a bronze or gold base and isn't like a white, shimmery shade.

Like I said about the Ogee highlighter stick in shade Opal-it probably won't look awesome on darker skin tones, but it totally looks nice and subtle on my fair to light skin.

So, the Boomstick Glimmer swatch? It's alright, but I'm not obsessed. That's just my personal feeling-there are so many better highlighters out there, in my opinion. You can definitely use this one on your cheeks and eyes, and even anywhere else where you want some sparkle. I bet this would look pretty if you slap some eyeshadow primer on first.

It could be pretty good for the body, but I'm not sure how long it would actually last.

Is Boom Makeup worth it?

So, just for example, if you are going through chemotherapy or you're pregnant and you really are in the market for super clean, nontoxic makeup and skincare products, I would say probably take a look at this brand. If that is not particularly a concern for you, I probably would give BOOM! by Cindy Joseph a pass. Honestly, the products I tried just didn't live up to my expectations. I feel like there are so many other clean makeup brands out there that make stuff which will last longer, blend amazingly, and just keep that ingredient list short. I feel like these were a little pricey for what you get, you know? They are super tiny sticks-0.27 ounces per tube-and while super handy for travel, I really doubt these will last very long. Most especially since you will most likely have to reapply this stuff later in the day, because I don't think this really sticks around on your skin all day. So, if you're considering giving this brand a try, I say just pick up one Boomstick to get started; maybe the Boomstick Rose Nude. Test it out and see how you like it before adding more to your routine.
