Saltair Deodorant Reviews: Does This Stick Really Block Odor?

Saltair Deodorant Reviews: Does This Stick Really Block Odor?

This is one of those Saltair deodorant reviews that does not disappoint! This Target-owned brand has flown off the shelves since its launch in 2022. This is not only a sexy, shelfie-friendly package, but also formulas that really work.

Is it weird how deodorants have changed in the last ten years or something? I remember when natural, aluminum-free ones started to become a thing, like five or six years back. That whole granola-crunchy vibe went out the window, and out of nowhere were these cool, trendy natural deodorants.

These days, there are loads of aluminum-free and non-toxic deodorants on the market that actually work to keep your pits smelling fresh and clean. One of those options is Saltair deodorant. In my Saltair deodorant reviews, I get into all the stuff you need to know about the Saltair unique deodorant formula.

Saltair Deodorant Reviews: Here's the Lowdown You Gotta Check Out

In my Saltair deodorant reviews, I'm just gonna talk about the Saltair Skincare Deodorant. They've got another one too, called the 5% AHA Serum Deodorant, but I haven't tried that one yet. As soon as I do, I'll throw my review in this blog post!

The Saltair Skincare Deodorant is a stick formulation that does not include aluminum. It comes in eight scents and one fragrance-free option.

So, this formula claims it can naturally help with body odor, exfoliate, and make your underarms smoother, plus it promises you'll get 24-hour odor protection. I'm gonna break down the "Pros" and "Cons" that I've noticed while using this deodorant for the past month.

Hey, just a heads up before you keep reading—I’m not exactly a Sweaty Betty. I don’t really sweat much like some other gals do, so this review is just based on my own experience dealing with a bit of B.O. in my armpits. Sorry, but I can’t say how well this deodorant works for people who sweat a lot.

Pros

Smell

This product comes in a variety of different scents. I tried the Seascape, Santal Bloom, and Pink Beach scents. Seascape was definitely my fave of the group, and I ended up using this deodorant all summer. The scent matched my long beach vacation this summer perfectly.
I gotta say, I think the scents are super nice, and I really can't say anything bad about them. That being said, there are four other scents in the line that I haven't tried yet.
What I have noticed with these deodorants while using them is that I often catch a whiff of them when I lift my arms or when my nose gets close to my armpits. That is not really a bad thing, but I do not smell my regular deodorant as much as this.

Packaging

I'm really into the packaging of this deodorant. It's super cute and super easy to use. It is a little bulky in my travel bag, but let's be honest-it really isn't that much bigger than your regular deodorant. I love the chic colors, and it's so easy to twist the bottom to push more of the deodorant stick up.

Effectiveness

The best thing with the Saltair deodorant, in my opinion, is its effectiveness. Seriously, I am super impressed by how well this stuff covers the smell of anything. It contains salicylic acid, which is great to lower skin pH. And that basically means it keeps body odor in check.

I really didn't notice any smell in using this product, except for initially-I'll mention that below, in the "Cons" section. Though this stuff doesn't prevent you from sweating, it completely prevents you from smelling funky during the day. I never once felt like I needed to reapply.

Transfer-proof

You know, I've noticed that a bunch of those white stick deodorants leave this annoying white film on your skin. Also, sometimes that white stuff gets on your clothes and totally wrecks your outfit. But hey, you don't have to stress about that with this one. I didn't notice any transfer at all when I tried it out.

Texture

I've tried some stick deodorants before that are just a pain to apply. They get all dry and don't really slide on the skin easily. But that's not true for the Saltair deodorants. They go on super smoothly! Plus, you don't have to rub the stuff on your pits a million times to get it on there.

Sustainability

One of the coolest things about this deodorant is just how you can refill the pod with the stick formula when you run out. This is great and is one of the best means of reducing plastic use and giving back to the planet.

Price

I think these deodorants run at a really reasonable price. Usually, the normal deodorants found in a chemist would cost from $3 to $11 dollars. Saltair Deodorant costs $10 for the case and a pod, or just a refill for $8.

CONS

Detox Time

So, going from antiperspirant to a more natural deodorant-you know, one without aluminum-you hit what many call a "detox period." It's during this period that your armpits get used to the whole no-aluminum thing and let the sweat glands do their thing.

So, because of this, you might feel your underarms smelling a bit funkier than normal when you start with this deodorant. I totally went through this too. One night, my husband and I were just getting ready for bed, and while we were lying there saying goodnight, he caught a whiff of my pits and said I didn't smell too great.

So, after using it for about a week, the detox phase wrapped up and my underarms began to smell fresh and clean all day. It's not an antiperspirant, though.

So, it isn't an antiperspirant, just like I've told you earlier.

An antiperspirant uses aluminum to block your sweat glands from sweating, which helps prevent odor and wetness. This deodorant only works to mask any odor from developing in your underarms. It doesn't impede your body's ability to sweat, per se. That said, when I tried this stuff every day for over a month, I really didn't notice a heck of a lot of sweating. Of course, like I said above, I'm not exactly one to sweat buckets all that often, either! But in any case, don't buy this deodorant thinking it's gonna keep your underarms dry, since it more than likely won't.

Does Saltair Deodorant Work?

Saltair deodorant was totally working out for me, and I'm gonna keep using it until I run out! Honestly, it works way better than other natural deodorants I have tried, and I'm super into their scents and how long they stick around/how strong they are.

I love the packaging, and the formula goes on super easy. This keeps me smelling fresh all day, and into the night. Since the scent is pretty bold, I bet this would be a solid choice for anyone who's tried other natural deodorants and just hasn't had any luck.

Does Saltair Deodorant contain any aluminum?

Yeah, Saltair has no aluminum in their deodorant, but it contains a formula that includes beta-hydroxy acid, zinc ricinoleate, oils, and algae that combine to combat odor and keep your pits smelling fresh all day.

How to Use Saltair Deodorant

Patch test first

You know, like with almost any skincare stuff, it's a good idea to patch test it on the inside of your wrist or maybe just put a little on your underarm to see how your skin feels about it. If nothing bad happens, then you're all set for the next step!

Make sure your pits are clean.

Make sure there aren't any left-over bits of other deodorants on your armpits from stuff you might have used before. It's much better to put it on clean, dry skin so that it will stick around in your underarms all day.

Swipe and go

All you have to do is twist the reusable deodorant case from the bottom, and voilà! You get more of the stuff out. Then, swipe it on your clean armpits and voilà! You're good to go! Super easy, right?

Keep the reusable case

That cute deodorant case is made to be used again and again. You simply need to pick up refills for the deodorant when you run out.
