Reviews of Thrive Makeup: What to anticipate from this ethical company

Reviews of Thrive Makeup: What to Expect from This Socially Conscious Brand

Hey, you are going to want to take your time with this Thrive makeup review. I'm diving in deep into all of the products I have tried so far. Some of them are amazing, but definitely a few I could skip.
So, a few months back, I did this Zoom chat with Karissa Bodnar-founder of Thrive Causemetics. We talked about all the latest stuff from the brand: new Sheer Strength Lip Plumping Peptide Gloss, new shades for Sheer Strength Hydrating Lip Tint, and fresh shades in the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara. I was super impressed by her beauty brand, her beauty smarts, and the fact that she really focuses on giving back to the community, which is kinda a big deal for the Thrive Causemetics vibe.

So, I knew of Thrive Causemetics, but I'd never tried the brand's products until meeting Bodnar. She sent along some products to consider for media outlets where I usually write, and now I'm writing a proper review on them for my blog!

Thrive Makeup Review

I have not used this cruelty-free brand all that long. So, though I've been in the beauty game for a while now, I just tried out Thrive for the very first time-about a month ago. I really had no idea what to expect from this brand. I mean, I knew they were all about giving back. But I didn't know their formulas would be as awesome as they actually are.

So here's what I think about each product the brand sent my way, ranked from fave to the ones I liked the least. I also have heard some good buzz about a couple of other products that I haven't tried yet, like the Buildable Blur CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 40 and the Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner.

Best Thrive Makeup Products!

 Thrive Causemetics Brilliant Eye Brightener

I'm seriously super impressed with this product. It completely reminds me of that Kajal Longwear Eyeliner from Laura Geller makeup. And let me be straightforward-it's among the best sellers at Thrive for a reason: the formula goes on so smooth and stays put all day long. This one comes in 16 great shades, like Stella and Aurora, that are super popular and just blend into my eyelids so well. I just like swiping it across the eyelids and then using fingers to blend in all. You could totally take an eyeshadow brush and blend it up, but fingers are much, much easier honestly speaking. It's one of those products you just slap onto the lids and run. It definitely makes makeup application a lot easier and faster. You can literally just place it purely on the lash line and wear it as a chunky eyeliner. Also, I really love how this amps up any makeup look I'm going for without overdoing it. You can get a lighter shade for when you want to keep it chilled or go darker for extra drama.

I have worn this stick over and underneath my regular eyeshadow primer, and this seriously does not budge or crease for ages. Totally into this and in need to pick up more when I can!

Thrive Causemetics Sheer Strength Hydrating Lip Tint

I am seriously never getting enough of a good hydrating lip tint. Matte lipsticks and liquid ones? No, thanks-not a fan at all, don't like the way they look or feel. But these lip products from Thrive? Awesome-they are super hydrating, give the prettiest splash of color, and don't feel sticky or weird at all. I have the shade Rowan, and I totally love just putting it on all day long.

These lip tints don't really last that long, so don't think they'll be sticking around all day. You will surely have to reapply some in the middle of the day after having your meal or something. I kinda wish they had more colors, but other than that, I'm really into the one I've got!

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extension Mascara

You won't believe it, but I've never tried tubing mascaras until giving it a shot with this one by Thrive. I think this is the mascara that really made the brand take off with, well, everyone. There weren't that many tubing mascaras on the market when this released. And people were loving that they could apply it, forget about it, and then go ahead and remove it at the end of the day.

Tubing mascara-what a cool formula, made from water-soluble polymers, wrapping a "tube" around your lashes. When you are done for the day and want to take off your makeup, you can simply take some water and a washcloth and wipe the mascara right off your lashes. So, this approach indeed has its ups and downs.

The good thing is, it's super easy to take off. If you just despise using mascara since it's simply such a pain to remove and you don't want to even deal with eye makeup remover or scrubbing your face a million times, trying to get it off, this is the one for you. If you have super sensitive eyes, this would be highly recommended to you, since every time putting on or taking off mascara just aggravates them so much. The cons about this formula are that it flakes off way easier compared to your usual mascara. I have never tried it in the water, but I can totally imagine how messy that would look when I pop out for air, haha. Also, another thing I am not into is the fact that it doesn't give a good lift and volume.

Just so you know, my two favorite mascaras are Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara and L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.

But if you haven't checked these out yet, they give you super big, thick, full, long lashes. So, they're really not for anyone into that more natural, chill lash vibe. I would say the Thrive mascara does give a more laid-back look but does almost absolutely nothing in lift.

Honestly, this mascara feels kind of underwhelming. If you're into a more relaxed, casual mascara vibe, though, I'd totally suggest this one.

Thrive Causemetics Triple Threat Color Stick.

I'm all about a good cream blush and highlighter; really, I think these are awesome choices. I have one named Isabella, and it's this pretty coral golden shimmer color. It definitely packs in some shimmer. So usually I don't layer a highlighter on top of this because, to me, that's just overkill.
I think it's awesome that this stick has 22 shades, like blushes, highlighters, and bronzers. One thing that I have noticed about this formula is that it's just not as hydrating and creamy as my fave Ogee makeup sticks. I'm really into that dewy, hydrating vibe my Ogee sticks give me, but with the Thrive Color Sticks, I just don't see that same dewiness. But, hey, a lot of people aren't into that dewy cheek look, anyway.

But if you've got oilier skin or you just like a more matte vibe for your blush, bronzer, and highlighter, I really think these sticks are just right for you. They're not super matte or anything, but they are definitely more powdery compared to the Ogee ones that can feel a little sticky.

Sheer Strength Lip-Plumping Peptide Gloss by Thrive Causemetics

Honestly, I am not a big lip gloss person. Therefore, I have not used these shiny lip-hydrating serums very much. I really do think that it is cool that this lip gloss is offered in so many shades and has that doe-foot applicator that allows it to be so easy to apply. Additionally, I actually really appreciate that this gloss is not all sticky like a lot of other ones I have tried. However, since I don't wear gloss often, there's not much I can say about these.

Is the Thrive Makeup worth it?

Totally, I think Thrive makeup is totally worth it. Sure, the prices are a little higher than what you'd find at a drugstore. But let's be honest, you're getting high-quality ingredients and awesome products that also look great in nice packaging.

.

I really like that a lot of these Thrive Causemetics products are safe to use for acne-prone and sensitive skin. You need not have to bother about the breakouts or skin problems once you apply these products around your face and eyes. Obviously, I have not tried them all, but from the ones I've tried, my two favorites would have to be the Brilliant Eye Brightener and the Lip Tint. I'd surely love to see more of their Color Sticks in a range of colors.
